Lifesong Community School

Lifesong Community School Background

In 2011, the ACCMBC sent the first work team to Zambia, Africa. The Lifesong Community School in Zambia, Africa is a Community School in the Chipata Compound which does not require a minimum standard for children to be able to attend and consists of mostly orphan children. Many do not have any shoes to put on their feet. Up until 2013, most teachers were just volunteers and were not paid wages. We support this school through an organization in Zambia called Lifesong for Orphans who manages the needs locally. Many of the children attending this school are fortunate to have one meal a day that mainly consists of a type of ground corn. At this time we would like to raise funds for child sponsorships.

$35 per month would cover the total costs of sponsoring a child and would include the following:
  • Curriculum
  • Breakfast & Lunch
  • Teacher Salaries
  • Teacher Supplies
  • Salary for Cooks
  • 2 sets of uniforms
  • Cost of grounds keepers & guard at school
Lifesong Community School has 473 registered students ranging from nursery school to the 7th grade. The children are taught by 14 ministry-approved and experienced teachers, plus 9 supporting staff members. The school has a modern infrastructure which was recently approved by the Zambian Ministry of Education. The school is built in the children’s neighborhood. The children have the privilege of attending school without having to be concerned about whether or not they can afford to go, and that is only possible because of generous donors. The school is represented by a board formed by the members of the community.

These are the needs as they exist at the moment: Now that the cafeteria building is ready, the need is to continue to sponsor the children so that they can continue to enjoy: 2 warm nutritious meals/day, school uniforms, school tuition fees (curriculum, workbooks etc.), and the teachers’ pay. The second need would involve building 1 more school block. This would help to reduce the average class size to 30-35 students, rather than the current average of about 60 students, thus making the teaching more effective. Another need would be to build another school block for the Grade 7 students to go to Grade 8 and beyond or in other words a high school.

We would like to sincerely thank God for the support from our donors from across the world who have extended a helping hand toward this cause! Your contribution is helping to provide an education for those who otherwise would not be able to afford it!

The need right now is to be able to reach out to as many communities as possible, in order to provide food and support for those less fortunate. Also, we are trusting that God will provide not just the funding, but volunteers who are willing to be used to keep this program running smoothly!
